Starting to Packing for a House Removal |
As much as of this may seem obvious it is surprising how many people forget them as they have so many other things related to the move on their mind. Look through this check list to assist your move.

Marking and labelling boxes It is a good idea to mark each box with a simple labelling system. How you do this is up to you but make it simple. You can make a list of what is in each box or simply label each box from the room it came out of. It is also a good idea to mark where you want to the box to go to when you arrive at the new house. This will save time when the staff are unloading and placing the furniture and boxes into your new home. |

Please do not Overfill!
When filling boxes please remember not to overfill them. They have to be lifted and carried to the lorry and we do not want any boxes breaking under the strain or injuring any staff lifting them. |
| |
Please do not Underfill!
As stupid as this sounds please do not underfill the boxes as they may collapse if heavy items are placed on top of them. Try to distribute the weight of all boxes evenly. |

Call us for packing materials if you need them.
In order to ensure that nothing breaks during the move it is essential that everything is wrapped and protected properly. You will need plenty of bubble wrap, cartons and containers. |

Consider any access issues.
Please tell us if you may have any access problems at the new house or your existing house so arrangements can be made in advance e.g. Will the removal lorry fit in the road close enough to the house in order to be able to deliver furniture? You may have even to ask neighbours to move cars or place cones on the road to save the parking space. |

Pack Ahead
It is a good idea not to leave it to the last minute before you start to pack. Planning the packing over 2 to 3 weeks in advance will save any unnecessary stress and ensure that everything is packed properly. Keep only essential items aside until the last day or two. |
| |
Split Deliveries.
Split deliveries may be required eg often passing furniture onto family and friends. This is quite a common request and makes sense to do it whilst the removal company is planning your move with you. Please tell us in advance if this is the case and we can plan our route and make your quotation as accurate as possible. |

Keep Important Documents With You
Remember to keep important documents aside. This will obviously include any documents related to the house sale and your removal. |
| |

Placing Items Into Storage.
Preventing the moving chain from breaking may mean moving out of your home if you have a buyer and putting your goods into storage until you are ready to move into your new home. This is a simple and cost effective way of completing the moving chain which could otherwise fall apart and leave you back to the beginning again. We have arranged special rates with a leading local company. |

Food
Place the food from the cupboards in strong boxes and ensure it is packed properly and sealed before the move. It is also a good idea to leave the tea a & coffee to the last as the removal men enjoy and appreciate welcome tea break. |
